KONVENS (Konferenz zur Verarbeitung natürlicher Sprache/Conference on Natural Language Processing) is an annual conference series on computational linguistics (biennial until 2018) that started in 1992 and that is organized under the auspices of the German Society for Computational Linguistics and Language Technology (GSCL), the Special Interest Group on Computational Linguistics of the German Linguistic Society (DGfS-CL) and the Austrian Society for Artificial Intelligence (ÖGAI).

The 17th KONVENS will take place from September 6 to September 9, 2021. The conference will be hosted by Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and is planned as a hybrid onsite/online event.

The special theme of this year’s KONVENS is “Deep Linguistic Modeling”, which is intended to cover NLP with deep neural networks as well as deep symbolic NLP and the relation and combination of these two kinds of approaches.
